Selling treasure
I've got a player who is a studious wizard who was an apprentice at a magic college. Some of the treasures the party finds are linked to historical figures she's heard of in her studies. I want her to have the option to send those items to her college but at some kind of risk/cost. I had some ideas but I wanted some second opinions.
Cons
The college is far away, it'll take time for the college to get it and send back any money.
The money can only be sent to a town that the original treasure was sent from. So if the party is in a near by dungeon she won't see that money until they get back to town.
The roads are dangerous so there's a percentile chance her treasure is taken by Bandits on the way to the university.
The college has a budget, they can't match what a shady dealer or rich nobel is willing to pay.
I want doing the right thing to have some downsides, it's not super noble to do something that has no risk or cost, but I don't want to over do it. Are their any of these yall would edit or cut? Are there any pros you could think of?
