Glasses requirements

I’m buying 2 new pairs of glasses before my BMQ. Just wondering if I should get anything specific like a pair of work ballistic glasses or safety prescription glasses.

Or will I get inserts and/or fittings for casual glasses at BMQ?

Combat Medic timeline for Citizen with ADHD

Edit: *MEDICATED ADHD (vyvanse)

Now that I’m being enrolled I thought I’d share my timeline. And I’d love to answer any questions. It’s a long stressful process and I’m happy to provide some answers to ease the mind. Started end of January and just received Job offer.

I am a 26 y/o Canadian Citizen from Edmonton and I’ve lived in Canada my entire life. After graduating from the University of Alberta in Computer Science, I decided to follow my dream and apply to the CAF.

My initial trade choices were:

  1. AIRBORNE ELECTRONIC SENSOR OPERATOR
  2. AIR WEAPONS SYSTEM TECH
  3. COMBAT MEDIC

Initial tasks went smoothly. I completed them as soon as I received them and they would send the next task right away, usually the next day. My interview and medicals were done together the same day, the earliest I could book was in 3-4 weeks.

The medical part 1 is similar to a family doctor check-up with blood pressure, vision and hearing being tested. Because my vision is a little worse that 20/20 without glasses, I got a form that needed to be filled out by an optometrist with additional testing.

In part 2, another medic goes through the Medical History document that you fill out beforehand, which is where I wrote down my ADHD history. They will ask additional questions about your history so don’t lie and omit things. They are trying to write a more detailed report to clarify things for the MO who then reviews it. For my ADHD, I raised a red flag because of my frequent follow-ups with the University psychiatrist(they were free so I went 3-4 times a semester). I was given a mental health form for the psychiatrist to complete which included clarifying my follow-up requirements and if I needed to see a specialist or could my care be transferred to a general physician.

I completed my extra forms 2 weeks later and my file was sent for review. THIS IS THE LONGEST WAITING PERIOD. For the next few weeks I heard nothing, but my online portal moved to background checks, then selection and finally Job offer.
