Hey everyone,

I’m a Management student at McGill planning to go on exchange next winter (Winter 2027), and I’m trying to narrow down destinations.

One of my main constraints is that I want to do an internship next summer, so I need to avoid universities whose winter semester/exam period runs too late.

Ideally, I’m looking for exchange destinations where the academic calendar is fully done by mid-May at the latest (including exams). I was planning to go to Europe but it seems that most universities there finish in June and sometimes even July.

For those who’ve gone on exchange (especially Desautels students), which partner schools/destinations have winter terms that finish early enough to still recruit and start summer internships without issues?

I’m a BCom student majoring in Mathematics and Statistics, and I was originally planning to pursue a concentration in Business Analytics. While I’m not particularly passionate about coding, I see the value of these technical tools, especially for a career in consulting.

Recently, though, I took an Operations Management course and really enjoyed it, which has made me hesitate between these two concentrations.

My question is: should I choose Business Analytics mainly for the technical skills and tools it offers, or is Operations Management also a strong and valuable concentration? Is it reasonable to base my decision mostly on personal interest, or is there a more rational choice that would make more sense from a career perspective?
