Need a contact sensor that detects the smallest possible gap (using it on a roller shutter)
Been lurking here a while, figured this is the right crowd to ask.
I'm trying to put a contact sensor on my electric roller shutter. The goal is to catch the moment something gets caught between the slats as the shutter comes down. So when the gap between the two sections closes up, I want an alert, and I want to be able to stop the shutter right away before anything gets damaged.
Problem is, the cheap basic contact sensors I've tried (AQARA MCCGQ11LM) just aren't reliable for this. The detection gap they need between the sensor and the magnet is too big, so a lot of the time they don't register the open/close at all. They miss it when the contact breaks and miss it again when it reconnects, while they works for other things (i got like 20), its not good enough for that thing.
What I'm looking for is a contact/reed sensor with the smallest, most reliable detection gap possible between the magnet and the sensor body. Something that can pick up even a tiny bit of separation without constantly missing it.
Does anyone know of a specific sensor or workaround that handles this well? I genuinely don't care about the brand, and Wi-Fi or Zigbee are both fine. Just want something that actually works.
Thanks in advance.
