BB (and Peeve)

I just wanted to thank this sub and give an update on BB (and now Peeve). In August 2024 when my neighbor first found BB (baby boy, big balls; its interchangeable) at a food bank I came to this subreddit for advice as I obviously hadn’t prepared for a guinea pig lol. Although guinea pigs are a ton of work, it was so relieving to know there’s so many people willing to help how they can; especially with animals that are much more often looked over.

This boy is the sweetest, most talkative social guy. He was thriving even when I didn’t have the proper supplies for him. (Kept him in an aquarium for a bit, Reddit checked me on that lol) The only thing I knew about guinea pigs were they could not live alone. He seemed like such a happy guy, but I do school from home so I was able to be with him pretty much all the time which convinced my mom that he was happy without a friend of his own species.

Luckily she came to understand the facts and how much happier he’d be with a sibling. His brother Peeve, (pet peeve; I was getting annoyed I couldn’t think of a name) was free on Craigslist. I know it’s morally wrong to get an animal on Craigslist, but I was sent the link and couldn’t imagine what could and would happen to a guinea pig being given out for free. He’s the sweetest boy as well. He is much more shy, but I did adopt him as a baby and over a year later he’s finally trusting us to pet him! I’m just glad he trusts us pet him at all :)

I like to think of them as my little street boys turned spoiled. They were both totally free! It’s just the constant care, food, and pampering that’s expensive lol. They live in luxury with two conjoined Midwest habitats and all the hay they could ask for. Totally worth it as I’m sure we can all testify knowing and caring for Guinea pigs is quite a unique experience lol.
I just wanted to share their little updates and thank everyone on here for your care of the smaller souls of the world 🩷
