Shout Out to the Johnson's Woods Neighborhood!
Listen, a lot of people on here are always like, Eastside, Tosa, Bay View etc., when recommending neighborhoods, and that's great, but I'm here to give some praise to Johnson's Woods. I moved here a couple years ago, have great neighbors, immediate access to the Hank Aaron trail, am in a leisurely walking distance to Monterrey Market, Pick N Save, the West Allis library, and all those other shops on National/Greenfield. It's also a mile and a half walk to great stuff in the village of Tosa. Is the most glamorous? No. Is there a bunch of construction currently happening? Yes, but we haven't really been impacted by it yet, and Wisconsin Avenue/Bluemound are more appealing routes to downtown than 94 anyway. I really enjoy it. If you're looking to buy a house, I do recommend it. I'm sure there will be people on here that are like "when i lived there it was sketchy!!!" etc., but listen my dudes, sketchy people are e v e r y w h e r e. I find it to be a peaceful, down to the earth little pocket of Milwaukee and I just wanted to express my love for it. Thank you for reading!
