Called animal control and officer made a comment about pressing charges

So I took in a stray kitten that seemed abandoned by its mom monday evening. it’s now wednesday and she seemed sick as she had crust around her eyes and mouth and she wasn’t using the bathroom and she didn’t want to eat. I was originally going to take her to a shelter because I can’t afford to take care of a kitten as I already have pets. By this morning she still hadn’t used the restroom so I was increasingly concerned. I called around to see who would take her in and they all told me to contact animal control. So I called them and they came and got the cat but the lady who took the cat seemed like she didn’t believe that it was a stray or that i had simply found her. she asked for texts and pictures proving that I had found her and I only had a text from my mom saying she thinks there’s a kitten outside. She proceeded to ask “so your mom found the cat?” and i told her “Not really she just heard meowing outside” and she told me “I need specific details, now if you’re lying, we can press charges” and that kind of threw me off. She said the texts weren’t enough proof as i needed a text explicitly saying “I found a cat outside” along with pictures. I didn’t expect to be interrogated like that as it’s my first time ever calling animal control and the lady seemed to have an attitude and not believe me. So my question is, if they think i’m lying or find out some small detail i missed, will I get in trouble? I’m a very anxious person so her comment about pressing charges made me anxious. Anyone have any advice?

edit: I didn’t really tell the full story when I called because i’ve never called animal control before and I didn’t think telling every single small detail was needed. I had simply stated “i found a sick kitten outside and was wondering if you guys can come get her” but i didn’t explain the whole “my mom knew/heard about the cat before i found her” part and they seemed upset i didn’t have enough “evidence” like pictures or texts
