My passport came back with wife's name
TLDR, I got my passport renewal back and it has my wife's first name.
REALLY assume this was a mistake on their end and I shouldn't be paying to fix it, but how am I confident prior to mailing it off?
Does anyone who knows how they process the paperwork help me understand how this could have happened?
Some of the details:
Wife and I were both renewing our passport. I filled out both forms, downloaded them and printed them. Because we were doing them both at the same time we obviously were very careful when stapling pictures, so we know with 100% certainty that block 10 had my name.
And FWIW, I have the download still, which has my name correctly in blocks 1 and 10.
Now, the printer screwed up printing my first page and I reprinted it. So I could see a world where I mistakenly re-printed HER first page, but we know my name was in block 10 because of double checking before stapling the pictures. Also, the ONLY thing that was wrong was my first name. All other data was correct.
We both went to the post office and the guy said to mail them both together in the same priority mail envelope so we did.
When we got them back the passport numbers were one off, so they were done by the same person.
Lastly, and unrelated, I know I need to submit a DS 5504, but I'm nervous about putting my wife's name in block 10 and causing confusion with the person processing my passport.
