As of June 1st, Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ will have an open PGY-4 OBGYN position.
I'm one of the rising chiefs and another one of my classmates announced that they will be moving to another state to start a family with their partner. We are a community-based hospital affiliated with Rutgers that has 4 residents per year. We are pretty much as nontoxic as you can get and we are a very close-knit residency. Our hospital does a little less than 7000 deliveries per year and we are very TOLAC and abortion-friendly. Our 4th year is overall a pretty calm year compared to others. We work 17 call weekends per year so 2 golden weekends a month is guaranteed. In 4th year, we spend 4-6 weeks on nights, 8 weeks on gyn onc, 12 weeks on OB, and the rest of the time on gyn. The last 4 weeks of the year are an independent study block where we are not expected to be in house. We do most of our surgery at MMC but also have some gyn volume at a nearby hospital, CMC. In terms of lifestyle, the hospital overlooks the beach and PGY4 salary is \~85K. It's a busy year-round beach area with lots to do nearby. We're approximately an hour train ride from NYC and a 90 minute drive to Philly. The quality of life is great and our training is well-rounded.
