Boat Wiring Question
I have a Fisher 1600 bass boat.. I love it! It's just enough for what I need. I have some plans for upgrades I'd like to do and the major one is autopilot/spotlock on my trolling motor and an upgraded trolling motor battery.
The boat has 1 battery for everything, starting, house, trolling motor. I want to keep the starting battery agm since the mercury 15hp is from 03' (according to mercury I can't use a lithium battery with it) as well as some of the basic electronics (lights, bilge, livewell). I want to upgrade to a lithium battery for my trolling motor and graphs/future livescope. My ideal setup would be to put this lithium battery towards the front of the boat. No problem there..
My question is I have a two bank 10amp charger in the back of the boat. The leads will not reach the front of the boat. It is designed to be water proof so I can't just exactly open it up and run heavier wire from the inside. If it has 14 gauge wire coming out and I attach something larger say 10 gauge, is there a concern that the 14 gauge wire could overheat? Do I need to just get a second charger? Ideally I'm not running two cords to charge my boat up.. I'd like to make it work if possible!
