Buy a running beater to spruce up with buddies?
My two friends and I, are interested in buying an old but running vehicle, in order to acquire some mechanical skills. Maybe make a cool ride in the process.
(In case it’s relevant we’re all either graduated or within a year of graduating high school. And our skills are spread between us. I can weld, buddy of mine is alright with cars and going for an apprenticeship for mechanics, but again, we’re all newbies)
I’m curious if this is a bad idea. I’ve seen other posts saying it’s destined to ruin relationships and breed endless contention..however, I think it could be fun. Especially if the truck or car we buy already runs well, maybe it could be a neat thing to mess around with instead of ruining anyone’s actual daily driver? Should we start smaller? A lawn tractor maybe?
Should I just do it myself?
