PrehistoriCraft! Some New Features (WIP Models & Textures - I am no Artist haha)

A couple of the features we have been working on for our new dinosaur mod based on the TV series 'Prehistoric Park'. We want to add lots of dynamic AI to make the dimensions feel really immersive, this is a showcase of a couple of things already implemented. Deinosuchus Ambush AI - (WIP Model & Textures)

Been working on some pretty fun advanced AI for mobs in the mod! This is a water ambush AI that keeps the Deinosuchus underwater until the final second to pounce on target. Followed by the immediate panic and scatter to safety seen from the herded Minmi.

Once I get around to it I am going to add murky water so not even the player will be able to tell when they get ambushed. You thought swimming was safe? Think again!

PrehistoriCraft - New Dinosaur Survival Mod (Early Concept)

I've been working on PrehistoriCraft for the past couple of weeks and wanted to start gauging interest from the community.

For those who remember it, I was part of the original PrehistoriCraft team back in 2016. After many years, I've decided to give the project a second wind and rebuild it for modern Minecraft.

Before anyone comments on placeholder assets, please keep in mind that everything shown here is early development and subject to change. Most models, textures, animations and mechanics are temporary while the foundations are being built.

The goal of PrehistoriCraft is to create a prehistoric survival experience inspired by Prehistoric Park, where players can travel back in time, explore ancient ecosystems, tranquilise and capture dinosaurs, and build their own prehistoric collections.

I'm also looking for:

  • Dinosaur Enthusiasts
  • 3D Modellers
  • Texture Artists
  • Animators

Now onto some of the features currently being worked on:

Time Travel Portal

Discover time travel and create a portal, varying in size to allow for larger mobs to be brought back.

----------

Late Cretaceous Dimension:

Travel back in time and explore a prehistoric world inspired by the Late Cretaceous period.

----------

Unique Dinosaur Species

Encounter a growing roster of prehistoric creatures, each with their own behaviours, animations and ecosystem roles.

----------

Dynamic Dinosaur Behaviour

Dinosaurs are being designed to feel like living animals rather than hostile monsters, with behaviours such as wandering, resting, hunting and interacting with their environment.

----------

Dinosaur Breeding

Male and female dinosaurs will now have a chance to produce a nest with eggs and will guard it fiercely with their lives! They will remain around the nest until their offspring hatch. Once hatched the babies will follow mum until they grow little by little each day, into adults.

----------

Dinosaur Animations

Sedated dinosaurs will physically lie down and enter a sleeping state before they can be captured - plus many more animations to come! KEEP IN MIND - I am not an animator/modeller, hence the temporary models/animations I have made.

Tranquiliser & Capture System

Use a tranquiliser gun and darts to safely sedate dinosaurs. Once asleep, use a capture net to transport them. This is one system I want to really flesh out, with multiple different, and creative methods to capture dinosaurs - any ideas, let me know!
