I blame the government.

But I've been blaming myself for the past four years.

We were a middle class family turned poor due to my mom's CKD. Ang daming gastos noon, nabaon sa utang si mama at si papa. Kami ng kapatid ko, mga estudyante.

Umabot pa kami sa puntong humihingi ng financial support mula sa mayor, congressman at hanggang sa PCSO sa Manila. Tiga probinsya kami.

In our case we cannot "vote wisely", you see, dalawang pamilyang politikong korap lang ang naglalaban sa bayan namin.

We were poor. We couldn't afford to relocate.

When I started working, I gave her every excess money I had. Ang nabili ko lang sa sarili ko that time, isang payong, isang second hand laptop for work at isang hulugang phone for my internet. Partida, that secondhand laptop was 10k, sana ipinangbili ko na lang ng gusto nya. Pero I needed to earn to support her more.

She died. She eventually would, but I blamed myself for years. BAKIT ANG BABA NG SAHOD KO? BAKIT ANG TAGAL KONG UMASENSO? I WAS TOO LATE. Hanngang dun lang ang nakaya ko. I was too late.

Taxes went up, government contributions rose, food price hiked and even the medicine was unaffordable. Generic na yun.

Last year, the flood control scam was exposed on the National level. Billions of pesos were reported plundered. Isa sa mga nabalitang may ghost projects ay ang probinsya namin.

Billions. Plundered.

Para umahon lang uli, nabuhay akong parang daga at ipis sa isang murang boarding house.

Hindi lang "parang" daga at ipis, kasi kasama ko silang kumakain sa basement ng isang syudad. Para lang maka-ahon.

I'm considered a middle class citizen again. Patuloy na nabubuwisan.

Nag-aaway ang mga pilipino sa social media. Sa pula sa puti. Wala naman makukulong sa kanila.

Kahit anong partido pa yan, wala din lang makukulong. Pinapaikot lang tayong lahat.
