French polish touch up on oak floor

happy to see this subreddit!

I’ve got an older house with oak flooring that I sanded, laced in boards and refinished with two coats of shellac and then a paste wax that I applied with steel wool and then polished. We had a kiddo on the way and I wanted a low voc finish. He‘s 4 now and has been just beating the hell out of the floors, furniture scraped against it, etc. Im wondering if buffing in a new coat of wax is the answer or should I use shallac in the affected areas first?
