Brazilian partner in EU but wants to settle in UK
As the title suggests, we are exploring options how my Brazilian (f) national partner can eventually join me in the UK.
We met in Portugal about a year ago and have remained an item ever since- with me travelling to Portugal often to visit. It’s her turn to visit UK soon and make use of the tourist stay. The long-term idea is she moves to UK and we settle here, considering the two year spouse Visa option? Marriage is ruled out of the equation, simply by personal choice.. but we have already spoken about starting a family. I am a British National who has lived here all my life. What would be the best course of action be here in terms of her Visa application?
I’ve read up that it’s best to complete the full application from Brazil is that right? When should the process start? What would that mean for our relationship though .. she would have to leave Portugal for a number of weeks maybe even months in order to complete the process and wait for the outcome. Could she not be in UK with me whilst this is processing? What if our family plans take shape in the meantime , and she finds herself pregnant in Brazil .. that would add even more complexities. She’s lived in Portugal for about 18 months in total (not returned to Brazil) - but she does have a tax number and right to work. Her spoken English I would say is average at best - but is actively learning.
I appreciate that we shouldn’t turn to Reddit for important advice but I am a bit overwhelmed with the options available and I think it would help me with my research- before getting proper legal advice. Thank you very much in advance.
