German citizenship by descent through great-great-grandfather? (Argentina, 1911 line)
Hi everyone!
I’m trying to determine whether I might be eligible for German citizenship by descent.
My known lineage is:
Great-great-grandfather
• born in Germany (year unknown)
• emigrated to Argentina before 1911
• was a German citizen when he emigrated (as far as I know)
• naturalized in Argentina: unknown (currently researching)
Great-grandmother
• born in 1911 in Argentina
• older siblings were born in Germany before the family emigrated
• married in Argentina (year unknown)
Grandfather
• born in Argentina (year unknown)
• deceased
• never applied for German citizenship
Parent
• born in Argentina (year unknown)
Self
• born in Argentina
My main questions are:
- If my great-great-grandfather was still a German citizen when my great-grandmother was born in Argentina in 1911, could she have inherited German citizenship?
- If yes, could that line potentially continue down to me?
- Which documents should I prioritize finding first?
Thanks guys! :)
