I honestly don’t understand what’s going on.
There’s a girl I’ve liked for over a year. Our relationship was always pretty surface-level, but throughout that time I kept giving her subtle signs that I was interested in her, and I felt like she was somewhat receptive to it. She’s very attractive, and a lot of guys are into her.
I first met her through a small gathering, and after a year of this casual connection, I finally decided to confess my feelings. I sent her a direct, honest, and detailed message on Facebook, even though our relationship had never gone beyond being superficial. I just felt like I needed to be honest and do my part.
She rejected me. I’m almost certain she already knew I liked her, but she acted like she didn’t. She told me she no longer attends those gatherings because she had already graduated — which is true. She’s a year older than me and already finished university.
After that, I disappeared from the place for about a month. Then one day I sent a message in the WhatsApp group saying there was a gathering that day. I noticed that she saw the message.
What surprised me is that she actually showed up.
During the gathering, while I was joking around with someone, I noticed her looking at me and smiling while covering her mouth with her hand. The gathering itself was very small, only around six or seven people. I pretended not to notice her.
After the gathering ended, I saw her standing downstairs alone, holding her phone, but again I acted like I didn’t see her and left with my friends instead. It’s also worth mentioning that she came alone, not with her friends.
What confuses me is this: if she already graduated and supposedly stopped attending these gatherings, why did she suddenly come to such a small meeting after seeing my message?
Was my confession too sudden and that’s why she rejected me? Or was there never any attraction from her side to begin with?
