Polishing Military Steel

As the title says, im polishing military steel. Specifically old school Army canteen cups that are made of stainless steel.im new to polishing and have never done anything like this before. This is all for a project to commemorate a milestone for my unit during and upcoming Military Ball. Once the cups are polished I will need to glue or weld unit logos and other things to the cups but that will be a separate adventure.

The reason for the post is im having some difficulties doing the actual polishing. I've been using a dremel with green buff head and cotton heads with a green polish solution. The result I've gotten are mixed.

I started with the bottom of the cup and got it to an almost mirror finish using the green buff head first then the cotton head with the green polish solution (that turned black once it started polishing) where I could see my reflection but it wasn't super clear. I was fine with that though, if i could get it more clear Id be happy to. I tried to use it on the sides and it turned out looking sloppy and inconsistent.

Im looking for a way to:

  1. Get a more consistent shine, maybe by using drill heads instead of a dremel to cover more area at once? Not sure but any advice would be appreciated.

  2. Get a better shine. I know that just a buffing head and cotton head with solution is not a perfect system. If you know of a set or kit for a drill that would give me better results please let me know.
