Help Picking a Second Switch
Hi,
I need some help picking a second switch and figured I’d ask before buying more (or less) than I need.
My current setup: Fios gigabit service, Fios CR1000A router feeding my Cisco CBS220-24FP-4G switch (current primary switch). Cat5e throughout the house (everything terminating in a central data room with my router).
I’m out of ports and need another switch. It’ll sit next to the Cisco in the same room and serve as a co-primary switch (probably?). Most of the devices I currently have hardwired are APs and cameras with a few smart device hubs here and there. I also have two and soon to be three downstream satellite switches (unmanaged, mostly POE).
All of my network devices and cameras are currently Unifi (except for my switches). The Cisco switches managed, but I had someone set it up for me once and I haven’t never logged into the dashboard. I do log onto my Unifi controller all the time though.
So what I’m asking is what do you recommend for another 16 to 24 port switch? I need at least 16 POE ports with a decent power budget and I’d like all of the ports to be at least 1gb.
The simple answer is probably to just get another one that’s identical to what I have now, but I feel like that one it more expensive than it needed to be (or at least more expensive than what I need, but maybe not).
