Psychological researches on things like happiness or sadness etc are not very trustworthy

I have seen a lot of these studies being quoted that so and so increases happiness , family extends life , this decreases happiness etc. but the problem is psychology evolves in a social structure , so even our perception of what is actually happiness or sadness is a result of that and hence not an objective truth.

Engineering Geniuses in India

I wanna know why we hear very few names of Indian engineers who are on the same legendary level as Jeff Dean (Google’s AI/Systems legend), Jim Keller ( legendary hardware engineer), a Linus Torvalds or a Bob Widlar. Since this sub is dedicated to engineering , would love to know some such indian engineers who primarily worked in india and made a mark globally or even in just india.

This is situation is even worse for scientists but thats a topic for another day.

Waking Up - Sam Harris

A book which just deals with meditation and what it teaches us about mind and consciousness, what makes this book different is that Sam harris being a neuroscientist himself writes about these topics with minimum reference to religions or theology and talks only in terms of neuroscience and philosophy . He also writes about his experience with various masters , as he left america and spent almost a decade in tibet and india meeting various spiritual masters , and his experiences. Overall its an interesting compendium of spirituality , science , personal stories and will teach you the main crux of deepest spiritual truths without any religious baggage and in a very simple language .

Atomic Physics And Human Knowledge by Niels Bohr

https://preview.redd.it/4mr6siyxm40h1.jpg?width=301&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f298e76f57431789612ca8e9bbf55ab295c5340d

The concepts and subject matter in this book are very complex but are explained in a fundamental way that is more understandable than some of his contemporaries and even more modern writers on these subjects. The uncertainty principle is more clearly explained than most physicists can manage and entropy is also explained in a clear manner. The quantum action theorized and attributed to Max Planck is also clearly explained along with its significance in quantum physics. The fact that the book is compiled from lectures is evident when reading it but I think it lends a certain amount of clarity to the subject matter because Bohr was excellent at lectures and therefore the book conveys his grasp of the subject matter and he was speaking on these occasions at organizations which did not consist of physicists so he had to assume the listeners/readers didn't have degrees in physics. The philosophy of science and the methodology of scientific observation is also very interesting to me because as a man of pure science Bohr seemed to have a surprisingly broad base of knowledge extending well beyond physics and he seemed to relish different viewpoints that may be counter intuitive to most scientists. His recollections of various discussions he had with Albert Einstein are also a very good part of this book which I found to be interesting and insightful. Several of the lectures covered the same topics and were a little repetitive but with the complex nature of the subject matter it actually reiterated subjects that due to their complexity need to be read more than once to even come close to grasping. Overall a brilliant book. For someone who wants more than usual pop science , this is the book by one of the greats and pioneers of quantum theory and atomic physics.

I want some genuine advice as to how to stop myself from self blame for my ex's cheating . When I asked her why did u do it her reply was "becoz i felt safe and comforted" and from that day everyday I tell myself , you were so less of a man that your woman had to seek comfort and protection by fucking another man. I with 100% honesty put all my energy into making her feel that way , and did everything I could do in LDR .

I accept my flaws and mistakes but I was at the lowest point in my life and wasn't able to give her full attention and she might have felt little alone, but apart from that i gave my all.

I keep telling myself hadn't i done this or that , she wouldn't have cheated, I deserve to be cheated for not keeping my woman happy and I feel humiliated as a man.

Plz any perspective and advice would help me , because this inner dialogue is killing me

Note :Forgive me for any mistakes as english is my second language
