I just visited my ENT, and he had basically given me the choice If I want to do the surgery. Some context I have had strep about 4 times a year since i was around 3 years old. I always treat it and I have developed a resistance to amoxicillin which is the most prescribed medication for strep. My tonsils are so large they affect my breathing and sleeping. I really do want to get rid of this reoccurring pain.
I am a severe hypochondriac, I have a horrible fear of throwing up, hemorrhaging, and just pain in general. My doctor reassured me that hemorrhaging is rare but it is likely. He says it's about 5% if I remember correctly which does put me at ease but after researching it seems it happens to a lot of people.
I just want some reassurance that I will make the right choice by getting the tonsillectomy and that keeping my tonsils will only prolong my reoccurring pain. So those who had a positive experience with the tonsillectomy, please tell me if I am freaking out too much!
