Could I grow pawpaw in Mendocino?

I have had pawpaws only a couple of times but it is in my top favorite fruit. I would love to grow a couple plants but don't even know where to start. I live in mendocino County ca, zone 9a. Our summer temps regularly hit 100+ with a few days a year 110 and winter sees average lows of 35-40f.

Would any varietal stand a chance?

How to replicate this happening

I painted this awhile back. I barely qualify as even an amateur as I mostly just draw wizards on top of trippy colors. I accidently made a corona-like effect on the fireball which you can see heading into the purple to the left of the fireball itself. I can't seem to replicate it. If I let the color bleed it mixes too much but if I wait for one to dry it won't look organic or sometimes mix at all. Any insight?
