So, I’m watching the film 1917. (SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!)

Anyway. There’s a scene where one of the young men who you presume to be the main character, the guy who makes it to their goal- with his mate, dies in a horrific way. It’s devastating. And the movie is shot in such a way that immensely appeals to me. So I’m invested when I see this.

And I cannot help but think, that if women were in charge, maybe this wouldn’t be our reality. I cannot imagine sending my son or daughter off to war to fight the son or daughter of someone who I saw as my enemy. I’m not imagining some wacky utopia but I think communal living would make all the difference in our world, rather than this capitalistic hellscape. I don’t know. I’m struggling with how ugly this world is for children and I can’t figure out how to get through it. I feel hopeless. Us American mothers are not ok. Not at all. If there’s no justice, I don’t think I can go on.
