Remove soil to “raise caudex”?
I don’t really want to repot it because it’s been less than a year since the last one.
Can I just remove the top couple inches of soil to basically raise it?

I'm replacing my lawn in my back yard and planting natives. Looking into path ideas and don't really care for pavers or crushed stone. At a local park (beach) and was thinking why not the same in my yard?
I like the fact that it's not permenant like pavers or yards of gravel, weeding should be really easy, and looks great to me. I understand that it will shift around, but in my area, all of our soil is basically sand anyway.
Is this a terrible idea? In West Central Florida btw.
