Will our pet insurance premium increase massively after claim?

Hey guys,

Our 1.5y old doodle unfortunately has a limp and will need to be seen by an orthopaedic vet and possibly will require surgery.

Thankfully we have pet insurance (Allianz) which we got when she was a 3 month old pup and have since renewed.

We'll have to claim for her recent vet visit & xray, and go through insurance for orthopaedic referral +/- surgery.

But im now bracing myself for an astronomical increase in her pet insurance at renewal next yet. Last renewal was approx 180 euro.

Anyone any ideas how much pet insurance premiums go up after a claim ? Just wanting to prepare myself mentally

All paws vet limerick

Anyone have any experience with this vet? Our dog has an orthopaedic issue that needs to be referred but have never dealt with these guys before.

Hi guys,

Our now 1y 5m old labradoodle started limping on her left leg for the first time 6 months ago. We brought her to the vet and they felt she has sprained a ligament. The limp resolved after anti-inflammatories and rest. No x-ray done at the time

She started limping on the left again a few weeks ago and we figured she may have sprained ligament again. We rested her as before and though things improved, we noted she would have a left limp / hopping on right intermittently especially when she gets up from lying down.

After a few weeks of the recurrent limp, we had her booked in for an x-ray.

I had braced myself for some kind of a CCL tear and requirement for surgery but was so heartbroken to be told she had sustained a salter Harris fracture at some point in the past now resulting in a leg length discrepancy. + That she has hip dysplasia.

I posted her x-ray images from today on here -

She's quite an active dog and loves her walks but unfortunately hasn't been on too many walks recently as we were afraid to do damage pending the x-ray.

She is being referred to an orthopaedic vet but I'm wracked with guilt that I missed this and scared about what comes next.

Until we hear from ortho, I wonder if any vets here ever had this before ?

TLDR - 1y 5 month old labradoodle has intermittent limp & x-ray shows hip dysplasia, old salter Harris fracture resulting in one femur shorter than the other. Awaiting orthopaedic vet review & just wondering if any vets here have had any experience with this and what to expect next
