I just had my 5th game in all aoe series. I played 4 games as HRE and 1 as RUS. The problem I have mainly is that I hit castle age fairly earlier than my opponent as HRE and take almost always 4 relics but at that moment I usually start to get heavily harrased and unable to raise a proper army regardless of whatever I am facing. I saw on the end statistics that when I hit the castle age and age up I am on the same level of resources or behind and from there I just go head down.

My question is when should I start to invest in an army or what should I do between feudal and castle ages?

If my castle timing is still good how can I defend my self better for raising an army?
