Replacing tankless electric water heater
I have a seisco RA14 in there now. It’s 14KW, 240V, 47,780 BTU.
Last time I replaced about 10 years ago the plumber seemed not happy with me… They originally quoted me several thousand because they said the heater I had previously (a Seisco RA14) did not exist anymore and the only heaters that do exist have plumbing come in from the bottom and electric from the top or something (basically the opposite of the set up I have), so i would have to hire an electrician to move the electric box & also pay them the several thousand for a new unit and to relocate my plumbing. I went online and found a new Seisco RA14 unit (it was right before they shut down) and hired them to replace the unit I had in there.
Now 10 years later, what do yall think? I know I could buy A.O. Smith (Seisco predecessor). Or maybe units with the top side entry like the eco ones would also be an option? Or should I just contact a plumber and buy the unit through them since I seem to have made them mad last time?
Also - side mission.. I think I need to install a service valve so that my unit can be flushed in the future? Also, how does one go about getting a water filter system? Is that a thing?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!
