24M, worked in a startup, got shut, I have about 2Y of experience, should I try to build my own thing or try to find a job?
Right out of the college in 2024 I joined a startup, won't bore too much , startup got shut because of churing revenue, and bunch of people were randomly let go. I was one of them, even though I led teams and built some of the core features. With n number of people suggesting there's relatively no scope for this industry, top CEOs, CTOs saying they wont recommed their children to get into IT and bunch of firings and mass layoffs, I do see it as dimishing industry, not dead but very few opportunities compared to what people before 2022 had.
I am a big advocate of building something of your own, hence why I joined a startup, so that I can learn things relatively faster then what I would've in MNCs.
But hey it's not an easy money endeavour( statistically, I probably won't succeed, don't come at me with narrative of believeing in yourself, I do, I mean in probabilistic terms ).
Finding a job in this market is very hard in MNCs, and based on my startup experience, if I joined a startup, the time or energy I have afterwards is not enough to try to build something of my own side by side.
But it's not like I can just survive on passion here.
What should I realistically do here?
Spend next month or two in finding a job, or try to build something of my own( indie hacker route ) ?
