Living in Burari, should I take PG?

18M, likely joining DTU CSE this year. Currently living in Burari with parents and debating whether shifting to a PG near DTU is financially/practically worth it.
My side:
Triple sharing PGs near DTU are around 7–8k and usually include food, electricity, water, wifi etc.
Current home expenses also exist (food, electricity, random eating out/snacking, commute).
Commute from Burari side will likely cost around ₹100/day + 2-3 hours energy/time drain.
I feel being near campus would help with societies, coding culture, gym, networking, projects, late classes etc.
Parents’ side:
“If you don’t study properly at home, what guarantees you’ll study in a PG?”
“You already lie sometimes while going out, how do we trust you with more freedom?”
Concerned about unnecessary expenses and too much independence too early.
Wanted opinions from DTU students / Delhi college students:
Is PG actually worth it in my situation?
Does staying near campus genuinely improve college experience/productivity?
Is Burari ↔ DTU commute sustainable long term?
