The best advice I got from LTT through the years
I’ve been watching LTT and all subchannels (maybe not so much the Superfun Channel) since around 2012.
I’ve been very vocal defending them in the drama with GN but also very vocal when I disagreed with something.
I’m a public viewer and the videos are open to public commentary, and I’m exercising that right (even if that means that I often have to deal with fanboys of one side vs the other side).
There is an undeniable large amount of advice I’ve adopted in my choices, having to do with pc building, making purchases or even evaluating if a company is transparent with customers or not.
All that advice came throughout the years of watching LTT videos and the WAN show and especially through the 2010s.
The greatest, by far, advice that Linus always share, is to do with hardware:
Buy the hardware that you need, when you need it and when you can afford it. Don’t wait for gotchas, don’t wait for something to “blow up”. Just cover your need, as long as you can afford it.
Following this advice I now have a nice, capable, mid range gaming pc, a bunch of HomeLab equipment, storage and network equipment - all bought when it was needed and available. Because of this advice, I was lucky enough to purchase all that before this RAM / SSD pricing shitshow.
So I guess, this is an appreciation post 😊
