Mercedes A-Class Service A due at 2,500 km — should I go to Mercedes or an outside specialist?

Hi everyone,

This is my first car, so I need some genuine guidance.

I have a Mercedes A-Class Limousine in India. My Service A is due, but the car has only been driven around 2,500 km in one year.

Mercedes is quoting around ₹30,000 for what mainly seems to be engine oil + oil filter replacement, basic checks, and cleaning. They are charging me for 5 hours of labour, which feels excessive to me for an oil change and routine inspection.

My bigger concern is that they are asking me to send the car to the service centre, and I honestly don’t feel comfortable leaving the car there for hours. I asked for doorstep service, but they said no.

I’ve heard of services like Automen, who offer a 90-minute doorstep oil change service. As per the car manual, it also seems that service can be done at a qualified specialist workshop without affecting warranty, though Mercedes recommends their own service centre.

So I’m confused:

Do I really need Service A at only 2,500 km?

Is ₹30k normal for this?

Can I safely get the oil and filter changed from a qualified outside specialist and still keep my warranty safe?

Has anyone used Automen or any trusted luxury car doorstep service in Delhi NCR?

I don’t mind paying for the authorized dealer service, but the charges feel exorbitant for the job,  and I’m also not comfortable leaving my car with them for 5 hours when I can’t see what’s being done.

Please guide. This is my first car and I want to make the right decision.
