Onboarding experience opinions

I started at Amazon about a week ago and I’m curious whether my onboarding experience is normal.
So far things have been surprisingly relaxed. I’ve mainly been doing onboarding tasks, setting up tools and getting access to different systems. I haven’t really started the actual trainings yet.
My manager is based in another country, so most interactions have been remote, and overall there seems to be a lot of autonomy.
For people who work at Amazon corporate:
Was your first week also pretty slow?
How long did it take before you started doing real work independently?
Is onboarding usually this self-directed?
Also, do managers actually see/check your badge swipe times and office attendance, or is that handled automatically by another team/system?
Just trying to understand what’s normal. Thanks!
