Amazon and gas prices
I’m not sure if this happened to me coincidently, only was in my region or if everyone noticed this. I saw an article in the flex app from Amazon staff that said something to the effect that Amazon takes into account gas prices when calculating route payments. The same day I saw, not saying this all happened the same day, but I think it did, about a $0.15 to $0.20 increase in gas and Amazon decreased the typical hourly pay by $1. Now, in my area, gas has gone from around $2.20-$2.37 to $4.29 - $4.59. So, gas has doubled. The number of packages per hour has increased. Most of the offers are still $1/hr less than they were 3 months ago. So, I pose the question to Amazon: what exactly are you waiting for??? Flex drivers to forget about the article, Gas to triple, or are you waiting for a large enough group of flex drivers to finally say enough is enough? How about doing what is right instead of doing what’s best for business! I guarantee your flex drivers are starting to notice their wallets are getting thinner. How is Amazon’s wallet going? I get the business side…why raise rates when there is a huge number of people on the waiting list, but to post that article and then lower rates is Amazon’s way of throwing up their middle finger and showing us they can do whatever they want!
