my favorite song from ariana in a while
i've seen so many mixed reviews on hate that i made you love me, but to me it's my fave song from hers in a while. i'm also a huge my everything album fan, and this song gives me vibes from that era that we haven't heard from her in a while really. very lowkey, lower tone, interesting production, with a catchy hook (especially the ''i-i's'').
i stopped actively listening to ariana since the tun era started, cause it's when i felt she really turned to charts and forced the pop-trap sound. i felt like that sound was so much better executed in sweetener, which was a really good album from her. positions was super uninteresting to me, as i felt she lost her personal touch in music. and eternal sunshine as well i did not vibe at all - the only captivating song from there was true story. and i'm heavily thrown off by the new posh skinny look she has.
so i was not looking forward to petal really, but i will say that i was curious what this new single will sound like since it's been a while and she's lowkey known to reinvent herself. and honestly, i've had HTIMYLM on repeat ever since. it's a newer sound from her, and i'm digging it. i like that it feels not forced in a sense. it's such a lowkey song, kind of reminds me of billie eilish idk. and the chorus is super addictive imo.
