Goodbye GGP! And sharing a discovery for anyone who doesn't know!
Ok let me address the obvious, throwaway account (brand new; I've never really felt the need to use one before) because I don't want to deal with any hassle around doxxing accusations or whatever for the information I'm going to share below.
FIRST THINGS FIRST THOUGH, happy news! I'm still on the GIC waiting list but after the GIC referring me to Endocrinology earlier this year and a waitlist that was surprisingly short, I'm now getting hormones through the NHS (five years after the start of my medical transition) and so I will shortly be cancelling my GGP subscription and deleting my account.
In fairness, for all their faults, as someone who didn't have the balls to go DIY, GGP was a fairly accessible and cheap option for me to access gender affirming care when I otherwise wouldn't be able to. Personally, any of their staff I spoke to were lovely and to be honest, they were quick at communicating in my experience -- I had an issue with getting double charged, which was resolved and credited back in less than 24 hours. I had an issue with a gender marker letter missing a referenced QR code to the doctor's qualifications, they sent me copies of his qualifications 3 hours after I emailed them (and I only noticed this about 5 weeks after I received the letter so it wasn't even within the letter processing window).
Now, as I'm on my way out the door, I've been making sure my personal records are all up to date - making sure there's no documents or information I've forgotten to keep ahold of from GGP/my account and lo and behold: I'm on my personal information page, I look at "View All History" which I've done before, nothing particularly interesting or surprising.
Then, I hit "Download History."
As someone who is NOT tech savvy, from my browsing and limited knowledge, it seems like this gives you all your member data (as CSV files), including data you can't see on your account/hub (as far as I know). What I found most interesting in the data was in the "prescriptions" sub-folder. It's a record of all your prescriptions of course, but it also includes the prescribing doctor's information; their name, email address, phone number, registration number, link to registration and their address (practice address, I'm assuming).
As I said, I'm leaving GGP so this isn't information I'm going to do anything with nor am I necessarily saying you should do something with the information. Despite my own fairly decent experience, imo having access to additional avenues of communication with the people in charge of your care for an organisation that has become increasingly obstructive can only be positive. So, have fun, kids - sayonara 😎
