Scanner station is absolutely awful

"It's Early Access-" Yes I know. "It's not done-" Yes I know.

Problems:
1. Only one deposit can be pinged at a time
This means you will ping a single deposit (not knowing the richness of it, but that's for later), swim out, harvest it, swim back, ping another deposit, and repeat this over and over again. Subnautica 1 and Subnautica: Below Zero's scanner room scanned all resources of a specified type if you gave it time to. The only catch for the original scanner room was that you had to get a HUD chip to make it viable to use.

2. No distinction on richness of deposits
I haven't seen anyone express this, but I'm sick of this. When I use the scanner station, I have *no* idea if the resource I'm pinging is a medium deposit (the little chunks that give 2-3) or a big deposit. This issue is further elevated by the fact you can only ping a single deposit, it's just a huge, grindy gamble.

3. Pings are never accurate
Every single time I've ever gone out to get resources with the scanner station, the ping is always a few meters away. This problem's severity depends on where you live, but if you live near caves (which will be pretty often), you will constantly be wondering where the resource you pinged actually is.

4. No holographic display of the terrain
This is both a decorative and practical thing. The holographic display outlined the terrain around you and could expose cave systems that you could've had no idea was near you. The holographic display also helps you familiarize yourself with the area, though that's a minor thing compared to actually swimming around and getting familiar - but it's still a point!

5. No upgrades
I'm very confident this will change in the future, but I really want range upgrades. The base 300 meters isn't actually all that bad, however I wish I didn't have to set up 5 different scanner stations in a single crater(?). I like setting up outposts here and there but I don't like setting up too many.

6. Jarring model / hard to match style
The original scanner room was decorated with cables in the floor, special wall panels, special floor panels, and a ceiling mount which was part of the scanner in that room. Subnautica 2's scanner station is just this weird thing you slap down on the ground; it doesn't have anything to match a science/radar room and it's really big and awkward to place. This actually isn't entirely the scanner room's fault, it's a symptom of the much bigger problem with base building - but I digress. You can see no-one has any idea what to do with the scanner station so they just make these titanium coffins and put them in the middle haha - seriously, go look up "Subnautica 2 scanner station" and you'll see what I mean.

Obligatory "You're just a hater!" section
I have 920+ hours in Subnautica 1, 570+ hours in Below Zero, and 50+ hours in Subnautica 2. I'm a profound lover of Subnautica and am completely obsessed with it. I want Subnautica 2 to be as great as it can, and I enjoy criticizing things I love because it will lead to them getting better... Hopefully.
