Only two new elements for Minas Tirith is quite disappointing
As far as I can tell Minas Tirith only includes two new moulds: The helmet for the Gondorians and Aragorn's hair and crown piece. This feels like quite the downgrade from Rivendell and Barad-dûr.
Rivendell introduced the new fern piece, Gimli's helmet, dwarf beards and the new elf hairpiece. On top of that you got the weapon pack, technically one mould, but with six unique weapons
Barad-dûr introduced the helmet for Sauron and the Mouth, the orc shields, Gollum and a orc helmet pack with 4 different helmets.
As great as the new Minas Tirith set looks it definitely could have used a few more new elements. Andúril would have been an obvious one. The Gondor soldiers could use more rectangular shields. Gandalf could use a more fitting hair/beard piece like the old minifig. Not including a Fountain Guard (with a new helmet) also feels like a bit of an omission.
And compared to the 2012–2014 LOTR/Hobbit era, where we got tons of unique moulds, this feels even more underwhelming.
It’s a bit worrying that LEGO seems to be getting stingier with new elements, especially at these price points. If this continues, we can probably forget about ever seeing moulded wargs, eagles, or big‑fig trolls return.
That said… I’m still buying it. So I guess their strategy is working.
