Looking for advice in regards to transmission
Quick story time,
My fiancées 2014 ford escape ecoboost needed a transmission flush about 6 months ago. She went into a local shop and got it flushed and was told and “shown” a sufficient amount of transmission fluid was flushed and put in. Fast forward to a week ago, her transmission was really acting up and so I took it straight back to that shop and got them to check the fluids again. They took a look at it and said it still has a sufficient amount of transmission fluid. I drove it home (about 400m) parked it and than trailered the vehicle to a transmission specialty shop the day after.
The techs at the transmission shop said that the fluids were very low (over 1L lower that what it should be at) and than by this time it’s too late and I’m going to need a whole new transmission in the vehicle. Quoted at 5grand.
I went in today and ask for the paperwork from the original flush and how much fluid was recorded when the did the flush. They had no document of how much was actually measured in it when the originally flush took place and simply just told me they should my fiancée (who probably would’ve have known any better than there word or what they told her). I than asked if there was any record or measurement recorded of last week when I brought it back to make sure there was nothing wrong and again they did not document anything.
Keep in mind the transmission techs also told me there is no leaks or cracks causing it to lose this much within the 24hours I was told it was good.
Is this something I should be going after the shop that originally did the flush for?
The vehicle has 140,000km and yes I know ford is notorious for bad transmission but I just can’t wrap my head around where over a litre of transmission fluid went when I had to checked to when it made it to the trans shop
Do I go after the original shop demanding they help with costs to replace it or is there any red flags to say the original shop could have under filled it leading to the death of the tranny.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you for listening to my story.
