Bag lost, baggage office won't pickup the phone

I flew from SDQ to DEN connecting through MIA. I touched the bag at MIA to get it through customs. But when I landed in DEN, my airtag showed it was in San Diego. I talked to the baggage office there, and they said fill out the form and we will it to you tomorrow. Filled out the form and went home. Got on an online chat the next day to get a status update and they told me they couldn't fix the issue online that I had to go back to the baggage office. So queue me driving an hour back to the airport and paying for parking to spend two hours in the baggage office. They called the San Diego airport American Baggage office for two hours on and off with no answer. They told me I could just go home and they would reach out when they have an update.

I leave for a flight tomorrow morning and had to order all new luggage, clothes, and toiletries for this trip. Anyone have advice on how to get a hold of the airline to get my bag back and to get compensated for this massive expense?
