Thoughts and Questions post-Beasts
Still basking in the energy of finishing Faith of Beasts. I seem to have had the same experience as man, just barreling through it once I picked it up. Some thoughts or questions to share.
- So appreciative of what Livesuit gave us, and how tFoB doesn’t just confirm or reveal what Livesuit suggests, but recontextualizes it with the >!Lichen analogy and the 5-armed Livesuit creature. It’s certainly drawing my thoughts to an ancient AI, which is pretty rad.!<
-Am I corny for hoping that the planet “World” is actually Earth? Has there been any theorizing on that?
- >!Dafyd’s dreams of becoming Carryx and his lessons in their physical behavior, in conjunction with the transformation into Clae, are making me hopeful for some gnarly body horror that will fully remove Dafyd of his humanity.!<
- Jessyn remains the best. Her mental health journey takes the entire story to a depth even the highest-concept sci-fi wouldn’t give us.
- >!Genuinely bummed about Tonner. Last book it seemed like being a social dipshit was going to get him killed; turns out it was being smart that did it, and the reveal of the Deep Lothark is juice enough to make it worth it.!<
- Can Tomos’ lore be confirming BOTH Dafyd’s lonely future AND that Anjiin was a lost colony/generation ship? History and myth repeating? It makes me wonder who the lonely genius was that got them to Anjiin in the first place.
