Season 2 - Class struggle & Thoughts
Finished the season a couple of days back. And I really liked it.
Major themes - made a few interpretations or guesses early on during ep1. Thought the two couples would kinda represent two classes like upper middle & lower middle. Fighting among themselves by blaming each other while completely forgetting the billionaire class.
Season 1 was pretty similar, I think. So you don't need to be a genius to make these guesses. Just wanted to share a few things I noticed & curious if others feel the same way.
The ER episode - one of my interpretations was that the people in the lowest class being shown to have the most consideration for others. Feeling guilty for even taking up a hospital bed or voluntarily letting others with severe issues bypass them.
Episode 2 - Ashley having to manage Austin's emotional mood & insecurity on top of the insane amount of work she was dealing with. I interpreted this as a reference to women being expected to handle & pacify immature, emotionally stunted men.
Finale - All 4 of them being separated in different rooms and the subsequent distrust & expectation of betrayal. I interpreted this as the billionaires creating divisions among the classes & the lower classes, once again, resorting to fighting among themselves to get the better deal. All this despite knowing the complete truth about the real villains & having shared many meaningful moments with each other in the previous episodes.
Eunice - After the series ended, I felt Eunice was the only character that voluntarily tried to do the right thing while putting herself in danger. Maybe she figured she was going to be in danger anyway, IDK.
Ashley literally turns out to be the villain willing to ignore anything to get ahead. Austin turns out was only interested in getting together with Eunice. As soon as he realizes she doesn’t love him, he betrays her and folds.
