Bad Situation @ Work : Pls assess readiness.

Hello Fire Community

I don't come here to humble brag but to seek guidance.

Please advise. A lot of this is coming from fear.

Situation - Things with my Manager have gotten pretty bad over the last 1 year and I am very burnt out. Get stress related chest pains ( psychological not cardiological) and anxiety. I am in a career in tech where the roles have changed repeatedly but along a generalist problem solving path. At my seniority level I dont see relevant roles more so since my path has always evolved / not stayed to one line. Over the last 6 years I worked aggressively switched, saved and invested because I figured the music can stop anytime. Looks like that time has come.

I am fairly close to quitting.

Financial Situation

Liquid Assets ( Mutual Funds - Primarily Equity) - 4.5 Cr

Cash - 10 lakhs

PF etc - 40 lakhs

Debt - 0

No house; Parents have houses on both sides, we'll use one of those.

Age 35; Married & No kids yet ( planning in 2 years)

Spouse , 34, Stable job - ~2 lakhs per month, public sector ;No layoff risk.

Current Expenses - 75 K a month(including rent)

Can go to 1.25 lakhs with kids

My mental safety number was 10 Cr, No logic to it. We are currently at half of that. My reason to accumulate is we don't know how bad the inflation will get in the future.

I am worried that when I quit finding a job with a good scope in a place where I am comfortable is going to be had to near impossible. I am thinking of studying finance - cfa etc and starting from scratch ( easier said than done)

Wife is very chill & spartan, doesn't care about what the world says or thinks. Is way more chiller about life. I really lucked out.

My questions -

  1. Can I quit today and not be worried about finances?

  2. I am not sure what my identity will be if I am not able to reinvent my career.

3)We will plan to have kids. What will I tell my kids as to why I am sitting at home, if I am unable to have a career.

  1. Inflation - Will my corpus withstand a couple of bad decades in the market?

  2. My portfolio is aggressive as it is all equity with 35% global. Lost a huge value due to SAAS Apocalypse. Should I move to hybrid Mutual funds to derisk?

Thank you!
