New dad of 3 day old boy, how to deal with exhaustion
Hi everyone, I know every new parent deals with exhaustion and we all have to push through to help our spouses while they recover.
However, I have a tendency to just pass out on the spot. Not narcoleptic, but for instance, when I'm tired and holding my baby while sitting on the couch, I can just nod off on the spot. 1 hour long naps don't seem to work, because right after, it just happens again.
We have reached a point where my partner doesn't trust me alone with the baby so that she can take a nap.
I kinda quit coffee cold turkey the moment she gave birth so I am just bringing that back in and I am trying to be more active in the house (in the Netherlands every parent of a newborn gets professional in house aid for a week, a few hours a day, who also does a lot of chores so I just kinda stand aside). Also I am hoping that just doing some passtime stuff like gaming while the baby and the mom nap, will just help me break through this cycle.
Does anyone have some advice to overcome this, so I can be more reliable at home and break through this neverending feeling of exhaustion?
