new rangehood direct to outside
Home owner going it alone. First home project involving breaking a wall for something wider and altogether more complicated. I'm not worried about messing it up but I'm also going to take the time to plan it out.
I live more than an hour from the nearest HVAC tech and it seems feasible. I've got an oven rangehood (shown on the floor) getting ducted through drywall, and insulation and outside wall with siding.
I might lose the bottom of that cabinet and have to remove the outlet box visible just above it and use those wires to power the hood.
I am concerned about breaking the seal, letting in moisture, and that a single flange will not be enough to keep the cold air out in winter.
I have a four and a quarter hole cutter, enough duct, an endoscope, contactless conductor detector, metal tape good for 120°C, heat resistant expanding foam. I've double checked that I won't be close to the electric meter outside.
am I grossly underestimating this? any tips appreciated.
I am in northern Ontario Canada.
thanks!
