A training tool, a great shot, and new friends

Due to a backed up hole #5, my friend and I joined up with a couple guys yesterday on a casual round. We were a few holes in, and I’m struggling to hit good, consistent shots. We get to the tee box on a par 3, and one of the guys hands me this grip training tool and says, “just try it”. I proceed to hit the best 6-iron shot and then 3-wood shot a few holes later I’ve ever hit. They cheered like old friends, and it was the most fun round of golf I’ve had in a longtime.

This goes to show that not only can you lose sight of the basics after playing for 30 years, but more importantly, golf connects strangers better than anything else I’ve done or been a part of.

I love golf.
