Planetary Health & Sustainability in OT Education - Looking to Connect!
Hi!
My name is Liz Ballenger, and I am an OT student at the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos, CA. I am currently completing my capstone project, which focuses on advocating for the integration of planetary health and sustainability into occupational therapy education and practice.
I am hoping to connect with practitioners and educators who are incorporating topics such as climate change, planetary health, and sustainability into their work or teaching. This may include:
- Supporting individuals and communities in preparing for or recovering from natural disasters and extreme weather events
- Working with climate refugees or displaced populations
- Helping clients develop more sustainable daily practices and routines
- Addressing health concerns related to climate change
- Contributing to community development and resilience efforts
- Implementing environmentally sustainable practices within clinics or healthcare settings
- Addressing eco-anxiety and other mental health concerns tied to climate change
- Building connection to the environment through nature-based interventions
- Any other ways you are using OT expertise to support planetary health and sustainability
If you are involved in this work, or know someone who is, I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to connect and learn from your experiences.
Feel free to reach out to me on here or via email (eeballenger@gmail.com).
