AITA for arguing with my dad about his bedside trash?
Context: I’m 14 years old, and this happened at my dad’s house while my brother was in the shower.
About a week ago, I was in the backseat of my dad’s car and we were driving home, and that night he bought from a specific subway place which I don’t really like. Before he was in the car, I told my brother that I don’t really like said subway place, but I would eat it. As we were driving home, my brother brought it up to my dad and we all had what I thought was a playful arguement. He then made the comment of me cleaning his bedside table when we got home, to which I thought he was joking. Unfortunately, no. About 10 minutes after we got home, my dad called me downstairs to pick up his bedside trash, to which I was confused and asked if he was serious. He was, and I began to tell him that “it wasn’t my mess so why would I pick it up?” (Side note: he always taught me that when I was a kid). He proceeded to tell me all I had been doing was watching YouTube videos in my room all day, which I then said to him he was watching TV in his room all day, and he was pissed. He proceeded to yell at me and tell me to “just shut the fuck up sometimes” and it “isn’t that big a deal to pick up some trash”. Eventually, I picked it up bad had my computer taken away (the device I mainly watch YouTube on) and was grounded. Am I The Asshole?
