Dang, I expected it but it still stings lol.

So I got my M.Ed, and have been working hard on Praxis for elementary school, just got the 5205 to go, missed it by nine points lol. But, I've also been a sub for three years and completed a full semester internship, so I'm not exactly unknowledgeable. So, a few months ago, in one of the schools where I do my majority of subbing, I was basically waylaid outside the principal's office and was asked why I hadn't applied to my district's site. I told them I wasn't credentialed yet. The lady took me to the principal's office and we had a big discussion about it, with them saying just apply through the "future certified" application. My district can do the three year alt certification so I can work on Praxis and be a teacher at the same time. I thought what the heck, it can't hurt to have my name in a database somewhere.

Well the very next day they called me in for an interview. There were two jobs opened up and they wanted to interview, 3rd and 5th grade. It was with the principal that was outgoing, the assistant principal, and the incoming principal, who was the one that caught me and basically drug me to the principal's office lol. I thought the interview went great! We talked a lot about student rigor, classroom management, what they wanted to see at my first observation to show I was "getting there." Well, today the last job was taken off the site. I get it, I'm sure there are actual certified teachers they can hire. But they were giving such great energy during the interview, and I have really built quite the network at that school. Oh well, I'm going to pull back a bit over the summer, get my credentials and keep my nose to the grindstone. I knew the chances of acing it at my first teacher interview weren't that great. I guess I just needed to vent to some like-minded people lol. Thanks for listening to me whine!
