Is my friend full of jealousy, a monitoring spirit, or am I just delusional?
To start off, I met my friend beginning of senior year. That 1st semester was great between us, but the next semester, her true colors started to show crazy. First example, she was always trying to compete with grades. When she had better grades she would say how much better she was than me. And i know some friends play, but she says it so excitingly and smiles which makes me feel odd. Now this was in the beginning of the semester so when I locked in and continuously made good grades, she stopped asking me. So ofc when i would ask her grade, she would get mad and say her grade low or just ignore me all together. And then it got to a point where she would copying off my tests and then later say "i copied off you " and laugh… I spend a good time studying so I do be feeling some type of way.
Another example is when I would ask her questions. When i asked her questions she would alwayssss have a smart answer. I can never have a convo without her trying to belittle me or just fice me a straight answer. For example, one time i told her "you came early today" she was like "i’m always here early " and looked irritated. But when the professor or another student made that same remark that day, she showed all teeth and was so polite.
I told her i was getting a steamdeck and she begged me to get another console because there is better out there, I still bought it. Now, she has a steamdeck. I told her i was applying to *my current job* and she told me she would never work there again. Now she has applied for the same job and the same shifts I told her I worked. Any job I told her I applied for, she would beg me to tell her and apply for those same jobs. So, when I decided to stop telling her my business, she would ask everytime we talked about it and when I would be stingy with my information, she would get irritated. But again, in our friend group she doesn’t do the others like that.
When we would be on ft with my girls, she would be the only one asking why I don’t have my camera on multiple times throughout the call. However, when my other friends don’t have their camera on she says nothing. There’s even been times where in the corner of my eye, I would see her staring at me for a good 10 secs for some odd reason?
When people would compliment me, she would just walk away or try to change the subject so all the attention isn’t on me. Or sometimes in conversations when I’m wrong about something, she would just cause lot of commotion like she’s trying to embarrass me.
The real angry one is when I was celebrating my job promotion and wanted to go out to eat with my girls and she brought her bf (who she didn't ask to bring btw) . I don’t talk to her bf and he doesn't speak when I say hey so why even bring him without telling me for my day?
And don’t get me wrong, some days we get along and have good days, but most days are what I listed above plus extras i didn’t mention. I have asked people anonymously if maybe it’s just her personality and i shouldn’t dig too deep or if she’s just a bad friend trying to dim my light? Or if she’s just a jealous and monitoring spirit? i just don’t know how to go abt this situation and I’m not the confrontational type and I have always been nice and respectful to her.
