Is an MBA needed?

Hi everyone, looking to gain some guidance and career advice, I’m 26 and currently have about 2 years of experience at a large nonprofit. My title is Financial Analyst, but a lot of my work is more operations/admin focused (expense reports, vendor coordination, financial processing/support, etc.) vs. traditional FP&A work. I don’t have much hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, or building financial models.

I’ve been trying to pivot into FP&A/finance roles and occasionally even land interviews for Senior Financial Analyst positions, but I usually don’t make it through the process and I’m wondering if it’s because of gaps in my experience.

Should I be considering an MBA to make the transition, or is it more about reframing my experience/building skills?
